How Good Is It? Diablo 4

Hell is hotter than ever.

Few franchises are as beloved as Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo series. These isometric dungeon crawlers have been a part of Blizzard’s catalog for almost 30 years. After nearly three decades and four entries, is there still any steam left in this devil-slaying RPG, or is it going to hell with the latest entry in the series, Diablo 4? There’s more left in the tank for this series as Diablo 4 proves to be a standout title among critics and players.

Diablo 4 earned a Mighty OpenCritic score with a Top Critic Average of 89, with 97% of critics recommending this title for purchase. At the time of its release, Diablo 4 sits as the fifth highest-rated game of 2023, with only Hi-Fi Rush, Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom earning higher scores.

Critics praised Diablo 4’s rich RPG leveling system, haunting world design, and great combat that feels like a return to form for the franchise. The latest entry in the Diablo series might not revolutionize the genre, but it excels at its craft.

No matter what class or difficulty you play Diablo 4 on, you’re sure to cherish your time in Sanctuary’s hellscape. The franchise has never been so robust and expansive, with the base game here being larger than Diablo 3 at the end of its decade-long lifecycle. It’s the perfect title to sink hundreds of hours slaying demons with your friends.
