Final Fantasy XVI scored an impressive Mighty OpenCritic Rating with a Top Critic Average of 90; critics recommend the latest title in the mainline Final Fantasy franchise, making it one of the top five games of 2023 on the aggregate site.

To compare it to its predecessor, Final Fantasy XV scored a Strong OpenCritic score with a Top Critic Average of 81. Only 74% of critics recommended Final Fantasy XV, and fans gave it a lower average score on Metacritic, evening out to 7.7/10

Final Fantasy XVI launches as a timed PS5 exclusive for 2023. The title will come to PC later, though Square Enix hasn’t given a date for this upcoming port.
