How Good Is It? Resident Evil 4 Remake

The second coming of a masterpiece.

Resident Evil 4 is one of the highest-rated games of all time, so fans were over the moon when Capcom announced a remake in 2022. In 2023, the long-awaited title is finally out, but can Capcom recapture the magic of the first release, or is this title a pale imitation of the original?

Resident Evil 4 Remake not only meets expectations, but it also exceeds them. Fans of horror titles won’t want to miss this Capcom title, which has a staggering 92 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic, with 97% of critics recommending a purchase. As of March 2023, it is the best-reviewed game of the year thus far.

2020’s Resident Evil 3 Remake, while passable, didn’t see the same level of praise as the most recent title, averaging a 79 Top Critic Average with only 74% of critics recommending it.

Resident Evil 2, on the other hand, saw the same score and average back in 2019. As the first of Capcom’s RE remakes, it was a welcome surprise that went on to see a Game of the Year nomination at The Game Awards.

Resident Evil 4 Remake swayed critics, praising it for flawlessly recapturing the 2005 title and bringing it into the modern era of gaming. Plot issues are ironed out, the gameplay is smooth, and the graphics are remarkable. This title is an adventure that excels as a remake and a standalone title that Resident Evil veterans and first-time players alike will love.

Capcom continues its hot streak, and there’s no sign of that stopping anytime soon.
