With Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth finally out, players can finally continue Cloud’s journey to stop Sephiroth. Along with additions to the story, players can expect a few new party member to join their playable roster. The cast from Remake returns as playable characters, but there are several new party members (and a few non-playable companions), so you’re no doubt eager to get hands-on experience. Here’s when you’ll get the new characters to join your party in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Red XIII: Chapter 2
Shortly after resuming control of Cloud in Kalm during Chapter 2: A New Journey Begins, you’ll head outside and have a brief conversation with Red XIII before he officially joins the party as a playable character.
- Note: Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Aerith are automatically party members.
Yuffie: Chapter 7
As Cloud and his party leave Costa Del Sol, Yuffie stops them, joining the party as a playable character in the first few minutes of Chapter 7: Those Left Behind.
Cait Sith: Chapter 9
Following their escape from the Gold Saucer, Cait Sith joins the party as a playable character in Chapter 9: The Planet Stirs.
Cid: Chapter 11
While Cloud and his friends first meet Cid in Chapter 9, he won’t officially join their merry band until Chapter 11: The Long Shadow of Shinra. Until then, he’s the pilot that flies the party around the world for 300 gil a trip.
- Note: Cid is not a playable character in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (unless you count flying the Tiny Bronco)
Vincent: Chapter 11
The party meets Vincent Valentine towards the end of Chapter 11: The Long Shadow of Shinra. After some deliberation, he joins them on their journey.
- Note: Vincent is not a playable character in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. He joins the party as a non-playable companion during this installment.
