How to fix missing or black textures in Apex Legends (PC, Steam, Origin, EA Play)

Apex Legends is a fantastic game, but it is also a beast to run on PC. If you load up the game and there are missing or black textures, there is an issue with your Apex Legends files. Luckily there is an easy way to fix these problems. Missing or black texture usually appear after an update that didn’t go quite right. It is caused by some of the game’s files not downloading, or downloading in a broken or corrupted format. Here is how to fix missing textures for Apex Legends on PC, for Steam, Origin, and EA Play.

How to fix missing or black textures on Steam

To fix this glitch on Steam, you need to Verify your copy of Apex Legends.

Verifying Apex Legends on Steam

  1. If Apex Legends is currently running, close it
  2. Go to your Steam Library tab
  3. Find Apex Legends
  4. Right click on Apex Legends and go to Properties
  5. Within the Properties menu, go to Local Files
  6. Click Verify integrity of game files… in order to verify your game and fix missing and black textures
  7. Wait until your game has been verified, then open Apex Legends (you do not need to restart your computer)

How to fix missing or black textures on Origin

To fix this glitch on Origin, you need to Repair your copy of Apex Legends.

Repairing Apex Legends on Origin

  1. If Apex Legends is currently running, close it
  2. Go to your Origin My Game Library tab
  3. Find Apex Legends
  4. Click on the Settings gear icon for Apex Legends
  5. Click Repair in order to repair your game and fix missing and black textures
  6. Wait until your game has been repaired, then open Apex Legends (you do not need to restart your computer)

How to fix missing or black textures on EA Play

To fix this glitch on EA Play, you also need to Repair your copy of Apex Legends.

Repairing Apex Legends on EA Play

  1. If Apex Legends is currently running, close it
  2. Go to your EA Play My Collection tab
  3. Find Apex Legends
  4. Click on the […] icon on Apex Legends
  5. Click Repair in order to repair your game and fix missing and black textures
  6. Wait until your game has been repaired, then open Apex Legends (you do not need to restart your computer)

Note that all of these methods can take a while, sometimes even around the same time as an update itself. This means that if you are excited to play a new update, and there aren’t a lot of missing textures, you may want to wait until you are done playing for the day to verify or repair. That said, if there are a lot of missing textures, it is best to just fix it as soon as possible, even if you have to wait.
