MultiVersus: All the latest Patch Notes

Welcome to Version 1.02 of MultiVersus!

The MultiVersus Open Beta is finally out for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and P.C. While the game is in a test phase, Player First Games continues to update and adjust characters. Before the beta went live, the game director, Tony Huynh, shared patch notes with the community.

Because MultiVersus is a platform fighting game, balance is essential for keeping the playing field level and preventing certain characters from overpowering the rest. All information comes directly from the Player First Games Patch Notes page.

MultiVersus Season 1.02 Patch

General

  • Gizmo joins the roster in patch 1.02.
  • Spectator mode now shows Team Colors correctly.

Hitbox/Hurtbox Update

Patch 1.02 includes an overhaul for the hitbox/hurtbox system in MultiVersus. This update changes hitboxes and hurtboxes to match the character animations in-game better. Player First Games will update the system with patches as needed should problems arise. This update is the first step towards genuinely accurate hitbox/hurtbox detection. While more work is coming, the foundation for permanent fixes is here in Patch 1.02.

Changes

  • Hurtboxes updated on every character.
  • Hitboxes updated on most attacks. Specific adjustments may not be in these patch notes.

Projectile Systems Update

Patch 1.02 also includes the first portion of the projectile systems update. Because Player First Games feels players shouldn’t need to memorize so many different projectile interactions. This update aims to standardize global projectile behaviors so players can better adapt to them. This change is the first part of the projectile systems update, and more updates will come in a future patch.

Changes

  • Standardized opposing projectiles to always clank, destroying both projectiles
  • Introduction of the Heavy Projectile. Heavy Projectiles break enemy projectiles and only clank with other Heavy Projectiles and cannot be reflected.
  • Barriers and buffs that block projectiles are more consistent when blocking all projectiles.
  • Exploding Projectiles no longer hit fighters that blocked them.

Directional Action Key Mapping for Keyboard

  • Directional attacks and Specials can now map to specific keyboard keys without fast falling.
  • There are eight new keyboard binds (Up Attack, Right Attack, Down Atack, Left Attack, Up Special, Right Special, Down Special, Left Special).

Miscellaneous Gameplay Updates

  • Adjusted character mesh vertical offsets to prevent floor clipping on characters’ feet. Adjusted floor collision on the following maps: Scooby’s Haunted Mansion, Cromulons, Cromulons (1 vs. 1), Tree Fort (1 vs. 1), and all Sky Arena maps.
  • Wall, floor, and ceiling bounces no longer restore Dodge Meter energy.
  • Improved input handling on Attack/Special executions simultaneously as a jump. In the past, jumps could interrupt Attacks and SPecials, leading to “ignored” actions. This change improves the responsiveness of short hop Attacks and Specials.

General Perk Updates

  • Clear The Air: Updated description for this perk that clarifies it only works via non-Heavy Projectiles
  • Ice To Beat You!: Projectiles will only apply Ice debuff to fighters that Ice doesn’t have already debuff.
    • Change previously added to online matches now joins the local play games.
  • I’ll Take That: Unstacked cooldown refund decreased from 0.5s to 0.25s.
  • Make it Rain, Dog!: Unstacked projectile speed buff reduced from 20% to 10%
    • Stacked Projectile Speed Buff reduced from 25% to 20%
    • Perk description not updated until next Patch
  • Sturdy Dodger: Fixed an issue where the perk wouldn’t stack properly

Maps

2v2 Tree Fort Map

  • Trampoline tree health reduced from 30 to 15.

Trophy’s E.D.G.E.

  • Fix for minor asymmetry in the central platform’s collision. It is now perfectly centered.

Cromulons and Cromulons (1 vs. 1)

Added a new floating platform to both versions of Cromulons.

MultiVersus Character Changes (1.02)

Arya

  • + Assassin Passive: Removed 5% additional damage debuff.
  • – Air/Ground Up Special: Reverted to Early Acces version.
  • ~ Air/Ground Up Special: Fixed Bug causing Arya’s dash on hit to stop working after Taz becomes a chicken.
  • ~ Air/Ground Neutral Special: Fixed an issue with extended lingering hitboxes on Arya’s stolen face neutral special.

Batman

Player First Games is watching Batman closely. Projectiles Systems update allows other projectiles to destroy the Batarang. Batman won’t see further adjustments until the developers see how this plays out. Batman’s Batarang changes aim to improve counterplay for Batarang.

  • ~ Air Down Special: Knockback angle changed to send victims further horizontally
  • ~ Air Side Attack: Landing the attack allows carrying movement momentum earlier
  • + Ground Down Special: Fixed Bug that prevented Projectile Sidestep from dodging all projectiles.
  • + Ground Side Attack: Fixed a bug causing a first jab delay going into jab two playing online.

Bugs Bunny

Bugs Bunny continues to be far safer than other characters, with few punishment windows thanks to land-canceling recovery. New active frames adjustment and global hurtbox updates hopefully make Bugs Bunny’s up-air attack more manageable for opponents.

  • ~ Air Side Special: Rocket now considered Heavy Projectile.
    • A purple effect is added to indicate this projectile can break armor.
  • ~ Air Up Special: Rocket is now considered Heavy Projectile.
    • Barriers and buffs that block projectiles now deactivate the safe hitbox until the safe is hit again.
  • ~ Air/Ground Neutral Special: Safe now classified as Heavy Projectile
    • Barriers and buffs that block projectiles deactivate the safe hitbox until the safe is hit again.
  • Air Down Attack: Recovery land cancel window delayed two frames.
  • Air Side Attack: Recovery land cancel window delayed three frames.
  • – Air Up Attack: Hitbox active frames reduced
  • – Ground Neutral Attack: Frame window to cancel into another Ground Neutral Attack delayed.
  • – Weight: Lowered from 55 to 50.
  • – ‘Comin’ Through Doc’ Signature Perk: Hitbox active duration lowered from 0.5s to 0.25s.

Finn

  • + Assassin Passive: Removed 5% damage taken debuff.
  • + Passive: Increased starting Gold from 100 to 200.
  • + Air/Ground Neutral Special: Fixed an issue where the shockwave from high-fiving an ally wouldn’t also hit enemies.
  • + Air Up Special: Adjusted vacuum hitbox to more consistently combo into the final hit.
  • + Ground Down Attack: Increased minimum distance traveled.
    • Adjusted vacuum hitbox to more consistently combo into the final hit.

Garnet

  • + Air/Ground Neutral Special: When Garnet bubbles a projectile, the projectile won’t hit her or her allies until the bubble expires.
  • + Air/Ground Side Special: Increased projectile speed from 2000 to 2200.
    • Recovery frames lowered to allow follow up combos after hit.
  • + Air Side Attack: Side attack one on-hit cancel window moved earlier.
    • Side attack one combos better into Side Attack two.

Harley

  • + Assassin Passive: Removed 5% additional damage debuff.
  • + Movement Speed: Increased from 1825 to 1875.

Iron Giant

  • – Passive: RAGE mode gray health reduced from 30 to 15.
  • – Air Up Attack: Reduced damage from six to five.
  • – Air/Ground Neutral Special: Ability and ammo cooldowns are now static. Cooldown reduction perks or buffs don’t impact static cooldowns. Consuming an item or Iron Giant art still grants one bolt.
    • Cooldown increased from 23s to 25s.
  • Air Neutral Attack: Whiff Recovery increased.

Jake

  • ~ Air/Ground Neutral Special: If Jake eats multiple opponents, he spits them all out on the first spit.
    • Spitting no longer counts towards air special count. Jake can now aerial spit even after exhausting his air specials.
    • Spit opponents are now classified as projectiles.
    • Weakened stacks applied on hit reduced from five to two.
  • – Air/Ground Down Special: Attack duration reduced to three seconds from infinite duration.
    • Can no longer hit the same enemy multiple times.
  • ~ Air Side Attack: Whiff recovery increased by six frames.
    • Land cancel window delayed, matching increased whiff recovery.
    • On-hit cancel window starts two frames earlier, giving the opponent more of a window to punish Jake for a missed attack. Jake also has more opportunities to follow up on a successful attack.
  • – Air Down Attack: Damage reduced on the first two hits.
    • Third hit ignite duration reduced from 1s to 0.5s

LeBron

  • ~ Air Down Attack: Knockback angle pushes more horizontal.
  • + Basketball: Enemies can no longer hit the basketball.
    • Basketball will always bounce back when blocked by projectile-blocking effects.
  • + Ball Ground Neutral Special: Ground pass projectile speed increased (air version unchanged)
  • + No Ball Air Side Attack: Hitbox active frame window moved to three frames earlier.
  • + Ball Ground Up Attack: Hitbox active frame window moved earlier.
    • On-hit cancel window was moved earlier to allow for more reliable combo follow-ups.
  • + Ball Ground Down Attack: Cancel window moved earlier.

Morty

  • + Passive: Ally grenade passive now enabled.
  • ~ Air/Ground Neutral Special: Ammo cooldown increased from 12s to 13s.
    • Knockback scaling increased from 23 to 25.
    • Allies can now knock back grenades with their projectiles. Enemy projectiles destroy grenades
  • ~ Air/Ground Down Special: Fixed issues where Morty or his partner would be randomly pulled back to the save point. This ability only triggers when an ally is near the blast zone now.
  • + Air Side Special: Portal aim reticle now only shows for the Morty players in online matches.
  • + Ground Side Special: More consistent hits on projectiles.
  • ~ Air/Ground Neutral Attack: Fixed issue where blaster could spawn two shots when fired.
    • Knockback direction based on projectile velocity now.
    • Knockback scaling increased.
  • + Ground Side Attack: Full jab combo now connects more reliably.
  • + ‘Extra Fleeb Juice’ Signature Perk: Now cleans up Tom & Jerry mousetrap and Garnet’s electric zone

Reindog

  • + Air/Ground Neutral Attack: Enemies can’t hit spit projectiles anymore.
  • + Air Up Attack: Vaccum knockback applies to the first hit to help two hits chain together more reliably.
  • – Ground Neutral Attack: Holding down and dodging no longer cancels into the next attack as quickly to prevent the rapid firing of the projectile attack.

Shaggy

  • ~ Rage Air/Ground Down Special: Super sandwich now classified as Heavy Projectile.
  • ~ Air/Ground Side Special: Bug fix allows players to branch into other attacks on hit for non-rage side specials.
  • – Ground Down Attack: Armor removed from the attack, and knockback angle pushed for more horizontal impact.
  • – Weight: Lowered from 76 to 68.
  • Ground Up Special: Jump cancel in ground up air special delayed to prevent a true combo into Air Up Special. The move was killing at an unexpectedly low damage level.

Steven Universe

  • – Air/Ground Up Special: After spawning two shields with his Up Special, Steven must land on solid ground before he can generate more shields.

Superman

  • ~ Air Up Special
    • Fixed Bug where Superman grabbed enemies from far away when bouncing off of walls.
    • Later, startup on active hit frames.
  • ~ Air Side Special: Fixed Bug where Superman could grab enemies from far away as they bounced on the walls.
    • Flight speed reduced after Superman grabs an enemy so the attack won’t carry enemies as far
  • Air/Ground Down Special: Now has an ammo cooldown. Superman Spawns with two ammo. One new ammo returns every eight seconds.
    • Added to prevent heat vision camping.
  • – Ground Down Attack: Hitbox active frames reduced.
  • – Ground Up Attack: Hitboxes adjusted for the attack so it won’t hit behind Superman.

Taz

  • ~ Skins: Beachcomber Taz’s hat fixed to look more like his profile icon.
  • ~ Passive: Max Tasty stacks increased from 16 to 18.
    • Chicken movement speed reduced from 1550 to 1200.
    • Chicken maximum health reduced from 30 to 15.
    • Chicken duration reduced from eight seconds to six seconds.
  • + Air/Ground Neutral Special: Taz can now eat and spit Bug’s safe, Bug’s Rocket, and Shaggy’s Super Sandwich.
    • Eating an enemy in the air now applies two stacks of Weakened.
  • + Air/Ground Side Special: On-cooldown tornado duration increased from 0.25s to 0.45s.
  • +Air/Ground Down Special: Recovery frames decreased to allow consistent combo follow-ups.
  • +Air/Ground Up Special: allows canceling to dodge and jump and escape while in the air.
  • ~ ‘Iron Stomach’ Signature Perk: Anvil is now classified as a Heavy Projectile.
  • – ‘I Gotta Get In There!’ Signature Perk: Taz’s ally can only enter the dogpile once per use.

Tom & Jerry

  • ~ Jerry Air/Ground Up Special: Jerry no longer hits enemies immediately after the rocket explodes (damage compensated)
  • – Jerry:
    • Jerry is now classified as a Heavy Projectile while flying through the air.
    • Jerry longer refreshes his cooldown if he dies attached to an ally.
    • Reduced cork ammo from three to two (Cork ammo, while attached to an ally, remains the same.
  • – Air Side Attack: Added three frames of recovery
    • The land cancel window was delayed by three frames.
  • – Ground Side Attack: Jab one hitbox active frame window moved to two frames later.
  • – ‘Dynamite Split’ Signature Perk: Split Dynamite sticks now detonate when hitting terrain.

Velma

  • ~ Passive: Instead of calling the police, Velma now calls the Mystery Inc. gang in the Mystery Machine to take enemies away.
  • – Air Up Special: No longer applies weakened stack on hit.
  • – Air/Ground Neutral Attack: No longer heals Velma when she hits an ally with a speech bubble.
  • – Movement Speed: Reduced from 2200 to 2100.
  • – Weight: Reduced from 55 to 52.

Wonder Woman

  • ~ Air/Ground Neutral Special: Lasso is no longer classified as a projectile.
  • ~ Ground Down Attack: No longer breaks projectiles during the charge period.
  • – Weight: Reduced from 76 to 71.
  • – Movement Speed: Reduced from 2250 to 2225.

MultiVersus Season 1.01 Patch Notes

General

  • Morty arrives with Patch 1.01.
  • All updates are server-side this Patch, meaning that Online Play is the only thing affected by the following changes.

General Perks

  • Ice To Beat You!: Projectiles only apply the Ice debuff to fighters not already rebuffed by Ice.
  • I’ll Take That: Unstacked cooldown refund dropped from 0.5s to 0.25s.
    • Stacked cooldown reduced from 1s to 0.5s.

MultiVersus Character Changes (1.01)

Harley Quinn

  • + Assassin Passive:
    • Reduced the amount of damage taken by Harley from 14% to 5%.
      • The description of the perk won’t update until the next Patch.
      • Passive is under review and may be removed entirely in a future update.

Iron Giant

Because Iron Giant dominates at all skill levels with abnormally high win rates, P.F.G. made changes. Iron Giant, paired with Velma, caused too few windows of opportunity for opponents. The update addresses these problems.

  • – Air/Ground Neutral Special:
    • Increased cooldown from 23s to 25s.
  • – Air Up Attack:
    • Hit boxes smaller and more accurately fit the attack visuals.
  • – Air/Ground Up Special:
    • Reduced damage by one and the base knockback on the final hit.
  • + Air/Ground Down Special:
    • Allows Iron Giant to cancel out of Cannonball if it hits an enemy.

Superman

  • ~ Fixed a bug that allowed Superman to grapple enemies that bounce off of walls even if his hitboxes didn’t connect.

Taz

Taz buffs are coming during the next Patch.

Velma

  • – Air/Ground Down Special:
    • Velma’s Educated buff reduced cooldown return from 75% over 8 seconds to 50%.

MultiVersus Season 1 Patch Notes

Season 1’s first Patch debuted on August 15, 2022, with the following changes:

General

  • Morty debuts on 8/23. He is MultiVersus’s first Plumbus-wielding character.
  • This Patch comes in two parts. The first Patch released on 8/15, with the second part coming a few days later. Most changes come on 8/15

Meta Systems

  • Free Rotation Characters now have an icon in the character select menu to identify them.
  • Battle Pass experience increased to ten for wins and five for losses (previously five for wins and three for losses.)
  • Disabled class-based Battle Pass missions other than Tanks.
  • Lowered seasonal mission requirements.
    • Ring out a player from the top of the map, side of the map, and bottom of the map 50 times (previously 75)
    • Get 50 assists (previously 125)

General Perks

  • Clear the Air – Increased Consistency on perk effect.
    • A future patch will address inconsistencies with Velma’s speech bubbles and Batman’s Batarang.
  • Make it Rain, Dog! – Projectile speed is now correctly applied to thrown items.
  • Painted Target – Fixed an issue where projectiles weren’t applying bonus damage.
  • Retaliation Ready – Reduced unstacked gray health from 3 H.P. to 1 H.P. for three seconds.
  • School Me Once. . . – Increased consistency on projectile block spawn.
  • Slippery When Feint – Fixed an issue where evade distance wasn’t increased on hit cancels.
  • Snowball Effect – Fixed an issue where projectiles weren’t applying bonus damage.
  • Static Electricity – Increased consistency on projectile electric damage application. Thrown items will also apply Electricity now.

Gameplay Systems

  • Ice Debuff – Movement speed slow at one stack reduced from 20% to 15%.
  • Ability Cooldowns – fixed a bug where cooldowns would not trigger if used near an ally Jake.

Gameplay Modes

  • Free For All: Fixed Bug where pop-up text would display the incorrect point value.

U.I.:

  • Announcer Pack – Previews are now available for announcer packs before unlocking them.

Tutorials

  • Various Bug Fixes
    • Fix for tutorials toggling stage hazards off in other game modes.
    • Down spike tutorial fixed and now requires spikes instead of any aerial attack.
    • Reindog tether in intro tutorial no longer counts if you pull your ally after rung out.
    • Fix for Shaggy falling off the map during the aerial combat tutorial demo.
    • Added a wall to the second step of the K.B.I. tutorial.

Glossary and Terms

  • New Terms
    • Added Block, Hazard, Wall Fatigue, and Wipe to the glossary and updated move lists accordingly.

MultiVersus Character Changes (1.00)

Arya

Changes were added to make combos more consistent and successful with Arya at lower skill levels.

  • + Air/Ground Up Special: Hitting a fighter more accurately launches them at an angle for follow-up attacks.
  • + Air Up Attack: The first hit more accurately combos into the second hit.
  • + Neutral Air Attack: Has earlier branching on hits.
  • + Ground Side Attack: Arya will retain velocity on the first hit of the side attack.
  • ~ Air/Ground Neutral Special: Fixed the Bug where Arya wouldn’t copy over capsule hitboxes on regular neutral attacks when stealing a fighter’s face.
    • Arya’s hurtbox now matches her disguise when Face Stealing.
    • Fixed a bug where Arya’s disguise attack hitbox got disconnected.
    • Another bug addressed where players used Arya’s original hitboxes during disguise attacks.
    • Bug fix stops Arya’s disguise hitboxes from staying active during regular attacks.

Batman

  • ~ Air/Ground Side Special: Fixed a bug where Batman would overshoot his Grapple destination if the target dodged.
    • Increased the overshooting distance when grappling to an ally.
    • Fixed Batman’s Grapple falling short during high latency games.
  • – Ground Side Attack: The first hit adds three frames of whiff recovery.
  • Air/Ground Neutral Attack: (coming in Patch two) Picking up the Batarang now refunds 9.45s of the cooldown (down from 11.55s.)

Bugs Bunny

Bugs Bunny was far too safe in almost every maneuver. Bugs now has additional whiff windows for more punishment options.

  • ~ Air Up Special: Fixed an exploit where Bugs could spawn two rockets.
  • ~ Air Side Special: Fixed an exploit where Bugs could spawn two rockets.
  • ~Air/Ground Neutral Special: Removed exploit where Bugs could generate multiple safes without cooldown.
    • Safe H.P. reduced from 16 to 14.
  • ~ Air Down Special: Bugs’ old tunnels now disappear when he creates new ones.
  • – Air Up Attack: Added four frames of whiff recovery.
  • – Air Side Attack: Increased whiff recovery by five frames.
  • – Air Neutral Attack: Increased whiff recovery by five frames.
  • – Ground Down Attack: Pie max lifetime set to eight seconds (previously infinite.)
    • Pie no longer applies a Slow effect.

Finn

P.F.G. applied changes to Finn due to his overpowering presence, which felt too safe and had low punishment windows. He recovered too quickly, and these changes are the start of balance to be concluded when Hit box foundational updates release soon.

  • – Passive: Attack impacted by Attack Decay no longer spawn coins.
    • Finn spawns with 100 Gold instead of 200 Gold now.
  • + Air Down Special: Fixed an issue where the gem required 200 Gold to generate. Gem now requires and costs 100 Gold.
  • – Air Side Special: Added additional whiff recovery.
  • – Ground/Air Up Special: Reduced the strength of the vacuum effect on the backpack.
    • Weaker hits from the backpack no longer overpower stronger knockback from other attacks.
    • Missing with all hits still drops a coin.
    • Added a whiff recovery.
    • Hitboxes better match the attack now, with a hitbox overhaul coming soon.
  • – Air Side Attack: Reduced active frames, so Finn doesn’t hit fighters behind him.
  • – Ground Down Attack: The distance Finn covers with this attack now scales to how charged the attack is.
  • – Ground Side Attack: Increased whiff recovery on the first hit.
  • + On The House perk: Fixed the issue where Finn still spent Gold on gems spawned by this perk.
    • Slightly reduced launch speed of gems spawned by the perk.

Garnet

  • + Air/Ground Neutral Special: Song activation starts earlier (frame 12 instead of frame 30.)
  • ~ Air/Ground Down Special: Fixed a bug where Garnet stopped down special when met by Iron Giant’s collision.
  • + Air Neutral Attack: Slightly higher base knockback.

Harley Quinn

  • ~ Stuffie Bat: Harley bomb VFX smaller to better match explosion radius.
  • + Weight: Harley’s weight increased from 42 to 44.

Iron Giant

  • ~VFX: Global Fighter VFX better matches Iron Giant’s size without overpopulation of the screen.
  • – Air/Ground Down Special: Fixed an issue where VFX trails persisted and cluttered screens.
    • Cannonball attack no longer works when out of air specials.
    • The knockback angle has more horizontal influence.
    • Fixed infinite bouncing on enemies near the ground.
  • – Air/Ground Neutral Special: Gray Health from activation reduced from two + number of bolts for five seconds to the number of bolts for three seconds.
    • Gray Health from ally overlap reduced from 5 H.P. for five seconds to 3 H.P. for three seconds.
  • ~Ground Forward Special: Iron Giant grabs are accurately blocked by incompatible states.
  • – Air Up Attack: Can’t hit the same target multiple times anymore.
  • – Air Neutral Attack: The final hit knockback angle changed to send fighters horizontally from Iron Giant
    • Increased knockback scaling
  • – Ground Up Attack: Gray health from scrap reduced from 3 H.P. for five seconds to 2 H.P. for three seconds.
  • ~Ground Forward Attack: Fixed attack decay not starting for all parts of the forward attack combo.
  • Ground Down Attack: Gray health from art reduced from 10 H.P. for ten seconds to 6 H.P. for three seconds.

Jake the Dog

  • – Air Down Attack: Removed instant cancel out of the attack to stop infinite skateboard attacks.
  • – Ground Up Attack: Additional whiff recovery and slightly later charge cancel window for more committal attacks.

LeBron

  • ~ Air/Ground Side Special: LeBron’s solo dunk no longer spawns a shockwave on the ground.
    • Alley-oop teleport version of the LeBron dunk spawns a shockwave that launches fighters into the shockwave. The final hit applies Weakened debuff.
    • Solo dunk knockback and hitbox size increased
  • ~ Ground/Air Down Special (No Ball): Adjusted to prevent ball spam.
  • + Air Side Attacks: Branches earlier on hit; fix for hitbox hitting behind LeBron too much.
  • + Air Neutral Attack: Branches earlier on hit to increase combo potential.
    • Fix for the ball neutral air branching into no ball neutral air.
  • + Ground Side Attack/Ground Down Attack: Removed shared attack decay from Side Attack and Down Attack.
  • + Ground Side Attack: Three-hit combo hits more consistently.
  • ~ Ground Neutral Attack: Fixed the angle of the attack.
  • ~ Basketball: Fixed some team color issues when reflecting Lebron’s basketball.
  • ~ Hot Hands perk: When an ally catches a no-look pass equipped with the Hot Hands perk, the basketball pass buff emits flames to let partners know they will throw an ignited basketball.

Reindog

  • + Air Up Special: Removed hit pause on an ally that threw Reindog when connecting in ball form.
  • – Air/Ground Neutral Special: Increased cooldown from 13s to 14s.
  • + Air Up Attack: Hitbox size increased.

Shaggy

Changes applied to stop Shaggy Side Special spam and make it more punishable.

  • – Rage Air Side Special: Recovery increased by two frames; Attack now matches Rage ground side special.
    • Addressed issue where Shaggy performed two rage specials.
  • + Rage Ground Down Special: Shaggy’s shockwave launches fighters into a final hit that applies Weakened debuff.
  • – Ground/Air Side Special: Added four frames of whiff recovery.

Steven Universe

  • – Ground Down Special: Watermelon Steven’s ability cooldown begins when Watermelon Steven rings out.
  • ~ Air Neutral Attack: No longer has an animation hitch.
  • ~ VO/SFX: Fixed an issue where Steven’s intro V.O. lines failed to play.
  • ~ Taunt: Fixed issue where Steven could only perform an up taunt.

Superman

  • – Ground Neutral Attack: Added additional whiff recovery.
  • – Ground Up Attack: Added additional whiff recovery.
  • – Ground Down Special: Added additional whiff recovery.

Taz

These are the first of the reworks for Taz after the Tornado debuffs.

  • Chicken Debuff
    • ~ Fixed bug where transformed fighters received buffs that didn’t appear when changed back.
    • – Reduced chicken duration from ten seconds to eight seconds.
    • + Increased the size of chickens.
  • + Air/Ground Down Special: Adjusted projectile movement direction of Taz’s spit projectiles for more forward projection.
    • + When Taz spits a projectile back at a fighter, it maintains its original speed.
  • + Air/Ground Neutral Special: If Taz eats a projectile that can’t be spit back out, he will refresh a count of his core ability.
    • P.F.G. Increased size of hit collision for Taz eating projectiles on his neutral special, and it also made it possible to eat projectiles a few frames earlier.
    • Taz deals one stack of Weakened debuff every time he chews an enemy.
    • We fixed a bug that allowed ground movement after eating an enemy fighter.
  • – Air/Ground Up Special: Damage reduced from ten to nine and base knockback reduced from 1500 to 1350.
    • Fixed Bug where enemy fighters could become invulnerable to the fight cloud after dodging it.
  • ~ Air/Ground Side Special: Now a cooldown move with a seven-second cooldown. While the cooldown is active, the side special is a weaker version of the Tornado.
    • Full power Tornado has a 1.5-second duration and gains an additional second after passing an ally.
    • On cooldown, Tornado has a 0.25-second duration and does not gain additional duration when passing by allies.
  • + Ground Up Attack: Now a two-hit attack with the early hit combo moving into the sandwich clap.

Tom & Jerry

  • + Down Air Special: Dynamite now applies projectile perk effects.
  • ~ Air Normal Attacks: Fixed Bug that prevented Tom & Jerry from using regular attacks when Tom & Jerry exceeded the Air Special limit.
  • – Air Up Special: Fixed an issue where Jerry would continue to have active hit frames when falling from the rocket.

Velma

  • – Air Side Special: Reduced move distance.
    • Distance from this move gave Velma additional recovery.
  • – Air Up Special: Reduced Weaken stacks from three to two.
    • No longer chains into Air Down Attack as easily to prevent easy damage stacking.
  • – Ground Side Special: Reduced gray health from 12 H.P. for four seconds to 6 H.P. for three seconds.
  • – Air Down Attack: Increased recovery.
  • – Air Side Attack: Added whiff recovery.
  • – Ground/Air Neutral Attack: Fixed issues where word bubbles went through Bugs’ Tunnels.
    • Reduced ammo count from four to three.
    • Reduced ammo return from 11 to 10.
  • – Weight: Decreased from 63 to 60.
  • – Knowledge Is Power perk: Reduced gray health from 7 H.P. for five seconds to 3 H.P. for three seconds.

Wonder Woman

  • + Ground/Air Neutral Special: Lowered cooldown from 13s to 12s.
  • + Ground Side Special: Projectile Shield comes out earlier to allow Wonder Woman to react better to incoming projectiles.
  • ~ Air Up Attack: Hitbox now better matches animation.
  • + Weight: Increased from 65 to 76.
  • ~ Shield of Athena Signature Perk: The adjusted scale of projectile shield to cover an edge case where projectiles would pass above it during a didge.

Batman

  • – Air/Ground Neutral Attack: Cooldown on Batarang increased from 13s to 14s. Picking up Batarang returns 11.55 seconds, up from 11.05. The minimum time between Batarang throws is 2.45s, up from 1.95s.
  • Batman’s Batarang pick-up cooldown created tiny windows where Batarang wasn’t in play. This change should allow Batman’s opponents to have a larger window between Batarang attacks.
  • Bug Fix: Air/Ground Side Special: Fixed a bug where Grapple would sometimes shoot you off the map.

Bugs Bunny

  • – Air Up Attack: Startup window increased by two frames. The active window decreased by two frames.
    • The previous hitbox allowed Bugs to hit nearly all around himself. Changes should make this attack less oppressive.

Iron Giant

  • Bug Fix: Air Down Attack: No longer combos into itself.
  • Bug Fix: Air/Ground Down Special: No longer repeatedly hits and locks opponents in place forever.
  • Bug Fix: Air Up Attack: No longer repeatedly hits opponents.

Steven Universe

  • – Air Neutral Attack: Knocks opponents up and away to prevent infinite attack options (alternating Air Down Attack and Air Neutral Attack.)

Taz

  • Bug Fix: Fixed Bug that prevented Taz from making any aerial attacks once the Air Special limit hit.
  • – Air/Ground Side Special:
    • Reduced effectiveness for Taz’s Tornado.
      • Decrease Tornado’s duration and other duration by passing an ally.
      • Removed one of the multi-hits of the Tornado.
      • Reduced knockback from the final hit in the Tornado from 1375 to 1275.
    • Plans to transition Tornado to a cooldown move in an upcoming patch. Buffs planned for other actions in Taz’s kit to better balance the character.

Velma

  • – Weight: reduced from 70 to 63
    • Velma was one of the heaviest characters in the game. Change implemented to fit the original design intended for this character.

Global Changes

  • Wall Fatigue
    • After spending five seconds wall sliding without touching the ground or starting to wall slide six times without touching the ground, you begin to wall slide progressively faster.
    • After spending 10 seconds wall sliding without touching the ground or starting to wall slide 11 times, you suffer Wall Fatigue.
      • Wall Fatigue Effects
        • Wall sliding no longer resets your Air Specials and Air Evades.
        • You no longer get a Double Jump after Wall Jumping
        • You lose Dodge Meter every 0.5 seconds of wall sliding or every time you touch a wall.
  • Fire Debuff damage now decays over time.
  • Abilities that use ammo are divided into two cooldowns. One cooldown for the ability and another to refund ammo, and ability cooldown modifiers affect both cooldowns equally.
  • A Glossary of MultiVersus terms is now available on the main menu.
  • Added two new advanced tutorials covering Knockback Influence and Elemental Interactions.
  • Dodge
    • Invincibility frames removed when canceling a dodge into an attack unless the dodge successfully dodges an attack.
    • Dodge Jump movement increase slowed by 5%

Signature Perks

    • Hitting an ally with Arya’s dagger has a longer cooldown, but the ally receives an enraged buff. If Arya dashes to a dagger on a partner, she enrages herself.
  • Bugs Bunny – Lingering Love
    • The Lingering Love projectile now has a cooldown.
      • Lingering Love forced opponents to permanently alter the way they played against Bugs Bunny and felt too oppressive.
  • Harley – Confetti Explosion
    • Near earnable through character mastery
  • Superman – NEW – Break The Ice
    • Superman deals additional damage to fighters rebuffed by Ice. Additional damage scales with stacks of Ice.
  • Taz – REMOVED – Right Back At You
  • Taz – NEW – I Gotta Get In There!
    • Taz’s allies can jump into his dogpile, giving more damage, knockback, armor, and longer duration.

General Perks

  • Many perks got new names.
  • NEW General Perk – Armor Crush
    • Your Team’s fully charged attacks break armor.
    • Break armor at 75% charge if your ally also selects this perk.
  • Static Electricity (formerly Electric Projectile)
    • Charge time reduced to four seconds.
    • No longer charges without grounded movement.
  • That’s Flammable, Doc! (formerly Fire Projectile)
    • Ignite duration reduced to one second.
    • Stacked – Duration reduced to two seconds.
  • Ice to Beat You! (formerly Ice Projectile)
    • Debuff stacks reduced to one.
    • Stacked – Debuff stacks reduced to two.
  • Absorb ‘n’ Go (formerly Ability Refund On Take Projectile K.B.)
    • Unstacked – Ability cooldown refund reduced to 7%
  • Retaliation Ready (formerly Projectile Gray Health)
    • Gray health duration reduced to three seconds.

Batman

  • + Aerial and Grounded Neutral Attack: Batarang on hit now applies one stack of Weaken debuff.
  • + Up Air Attack 2: Applies a stack of Weaken debuff.
  • + Side Aire Attack 2: Applies one stack of Weaken debuff.
  • + Grounded Up Attack: Applies one stack of Weaken debuff.

Bugs Bunny

  • – Aerial and Grounded Down Special: When exiting from Tunnels, Bugs Bunny and allies’ have reduced invincibility frames.
  • – Aerial and Grounded Neutral Special: Bugs Bunny and allies can damage the Safe when attacking it.
  • – Side Air Attack: Has more whiff recovery, making it more vulnerable.

Finn

  • ~ Grounded Down Attack
    • + Hit one and two chains together more reliably.
    • – Reduced knockback on the second hit.
  • + Aerial and Grounded Up Special: Hitboxes now connect more consistently.
  • – Base Movement Speed: Reduced from 2200 to 2100.
  • – Grounded Down Special: Boost of Speed now give 10% increased movement speed on the first purchase, and the second purchase increases movement by 5%. The subsequent purchases provide an additional 3% boost with ten max stacks.
  • – Down Air Attack: Hitbox starts a bit later.
  • – Side Air Attack 2: Increased whiff recovery.
  • – Neutral Air Attack: Increased whiff recovery.
  • ~ Down Air Special: Crystal now counts as a projectile for perk application.

Garnet

  • + Down Air Attack: Startup of move decreased.
  • + Neutral Air Attack: Increased base Knockback.
  • – Aerial and Grounded Neutral Special: additional startup time before becoming active.
  • – Up Air Attack: Startup of move increased.
  • – Side Air Attack 1: It takes a bit longer before users can use landing cancels.
  • – Side Air Attack 2: Added additional whiff recovery to give a larger window where enemies can punish the attack on misses.

Harley Quinn

  • ~ Aerial and Grounded Neutral Special:
    • + The Bomb now pierces armor
    • + Harley Bomb Equip no longer counts as an Air Special use.
    • Harley Bat Bomb now detonates after six seconds, even when attached.
    • Bug Fix: Fixed issue where bomb disappeared when attached to a player going to edge of blast box.
  • – Up Air Attack: Increased time between Up Air Attack uses when canceled by landing.
  • – Side Air Attack: Slightly more whiff recovery.
  • – Neutral Air Attack: Has more whiff recovery.

Jake the Dog

  • ~ Aerial and Grounded Side Special:
    • + Can cancel on hit earlier to allow it to combo more reliably.
    • – The startup of the move increased.
    • – Initial movement speed slowed from 2x to 1.5x so opponents could react.
  • + Up Air Attack: Can cancel on hit earlier to allow more reliable combos.
  • + Grounded Up Attack: Can cancel on hit earlier to more reliably use combos.
  • + Grounded Neutral Attack: Can cancel on hit earlier for more reliable combo options.
  • – Weight: Lowered from 75 to 63.
  • – Side Air Attack: Jake’s stretch punch distance depends on charge time. The best attack range only applies if charged long enough.

Reindog

  • + Grounded Side Special: Can cancel immediately on hit.
  • + Up Air Attack: Multi-hit will combo a bit more reliably.
  • + Grounded Up Attack: Increased hitbox size in front.
  • + Grounded Down Attack: Has faster startup.
  • – Up Air Special: Movement speed increase reduced from 2x to 1.5x.

Shaggy

  • + Passive: Shaggy now starts with a Sandwich each life.
  • + Down Air Special: Has armor when starting the descent.
  • + Grounded Up Attack: Has earlier on hit cancel frames and knockback pushes the opponent up.
  • + Grounded Down Attack: has a faster startup.
  • – Base Movement Speed: Shaggy movement speed reduced from 2300 to 2225.

Steven Universe

  • ~ Neutral Dodge: Bubble shield charges and refresh time shown to players as an ability cooldown.
  • – Rose’s Gaze: Now requires ten stacks instead of eight.
    • Bubbled opponents have more control in the air.
    • Bubbled opponents’ movement improved.
  • – Up Air Special: Upward movement reduced.

Superman

  • ~ Grounded Down Attack: Has armor removed from the attack but now breaks armor.
  • + Aerial and Grounded Down Special: Laser has extended range and now applies projectile debuffs from perks on knockback.
  • + Grounded Side Special: Faster startup.
  • + Grounded Side Attack: The jab combo chains together more reliably.

Taz

  • + General Change: Many of Taz’s attacks retain velocity when branching into other attacks, making movement more fluid.
  • + Neutral Special: Holding Neutral Special keeps Taz’s mouth open for longer, making it easier for Taz to eat projectiles.
  • + Grounded Down Attack: Moves further, granting it improved range.
  • – Weight: Decreased from 70 to 63.
  • – Aerial and Grounded Side Special: Additional commitment before you can cancel this attack.
  • – Aerial and Grounded Down Special: Has ammo to reduce Taz’s zoning effectiveness.
  • – Side Air Special: Taz can no longer turn and change the direction of the knockback.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where Taz could turn permanently invisible.

Tom & Jerry

  • – Down Air Special: Dynamite ammo cooldown increased from 9s to 12s.
  • – Up Air Attack: Added additional whiff recovery.
  • – Down Air Attack: Hitbox starts a bit later.
  • – Side Air Attack: Added additional whiff recovery.
  • Bug Fix: Jerry Slingshot from Aerial and Grounded Neutral Special triggers attack decay.

Velma

  • + Police Car: Increased health from 15 to 18.
  • – Neutral Dodge: Projectile Shield only turns on if Velma has a Dodge Meter.
  • – Up Air Special:
    • – Reduced size of hitbox.
    • – Reduce knockback.
    • – Reduced Weaken debuff stacks from five to three on hit.
    • Bug Fix: Can no longer cancel during startup.
  • – Grounded Up Special: Increased cooldown from 14s to 28s.
  • – Grounded Side Special: Velma can now only cancel the Grapple with Grounded Up Attack.

Wonder Woman

  • ~ Sound: New Sound Effects to make hits feel more powerful.
  • + Side Aire Attack: Increased hit pause on hits to make the attack feel more powerful.
  • – Base Movement Speed: decreased from 2300 to 2250.
    • Previous speed made Wonder Woman too oppressive.
  • – Aerial and Grounded Neutral Special: Cooldown increased from 8 to 13 seconds.
    • Lasso was previously available too often.
  • – Side Air Special: Movement distance can’t be controlled, making the attack more committal.
  • Bug Fix: Grounded Down Attack hitbox is now more in line with visuals.
