Blade First Appearances

- Blade first appeared in The Tomb of Dracula #10 (1973).
- His first solo story came in Vampire Tales #8 (1973).
- Blade later saw his first full comic book run, Blade the Vampire Hunter (1994-1995).
Blade Origins
Blade, or Eric Brooks, gained his powers at birth when his mother approached Deacon Frost, a vampire masquerading as a doctor. Seeking help for complications during her pregnancy, Tara Brooks became the victim of Frost, who fed on her as she gave birth. This process transferred certain enzymes to Eric, granting him the abilities of a vampire without any of their weaknesses.
Blade possesses superhuman strength, stamina, senses, and a healing factor. The key difference between him and regular vampires is that he can see the sunlight. Because of this, Blade is often called the Daywalker. Blade is also immune to vampire bites, thanks to his mother’s vampiric traits passed on during birth.
Along with these abilities, Blade is a martial arts master and skilled with weapons like swords and daggers.
