Pokemon Scarlet and Violet let players add new allies to their team as they explore the Paldea region. Some new creatures come from a new category. These Paradox Pokemon come from the past and future, resembling familiar creatures. Volcarona saw two new forms, including the futuristic Iron Moth. Before committing to an Iron Moth, ensure you have the best natures possible for the new Pokemon.

Best Natures for Iron Moth

Thanks to several vital stats, Iron Moth works well as an attacker and a defender with the right natures. Make sure you choose which option works best for your playstyle.
Offensive Build
Nature | Effects |
---|---|
Modest | +Special Attack/-Attack |
Timid | +Speed/-Attack |
If you want to make the most of Iron Moth’s impressive Special Attack, the Modest nature will raise that stat further at the cost of Attack power. Because Iron Moth won’t need the Attack stat, this decrease isn’t worth worrying about.
If you’d rather raise the Speed stat, the Timid nature will do so but take power from the Attack stat in the process. During our playthrough, we went with the Timid nature since the Special Attack stat is already so high for this Pokemon.
Defensive Build
Nature | Effects |
---|---|
Calm | +Special Defense/-Attack |
Although Iron Moth works well as a Special Attacker, another option exists. Iron Moth can also perform as a Special Defender. If you want to put points into this nature, you’ll fare better against Special Attacks on the battlefield, but you should invest in the Calm nature to retain that Special Attack strength.
Worst Natures for Iron Moth

Before settling on an Iron Moth, you must avoid the worst natures on the table. Choosing any of the options below will ensure your ally is far weaker than it could be. If you find an Iron Moth with any of the natures below, we suggest grabbing another one or swapping its nature with a mint. Players can purchase mints to change natures at the Chansey Supply shop in Montenevera for $20,000.
Offensive Build
Nature | Effects |
---|---|
Adamant | +Attack/-Special Attack |
Brave | +Attack/-Speed |
Because Iron Moth needs Special Attack stats to fight effectively, you’ll want to avoid any nature that takes points out of this stat. The Adamant nature is the worst option for Iron Moth since it boosts the Attack stat while lowering Special Attack. You’ll have a far weaker Pokemon when using this option.
Another unfavorable option is Brave, which takes away from the Speed stat. Brave nature also adds to the Attack stat, which isn’t helpful. The tradeoff isn’t worth your time here and can lead to an untimely demise for this Fire/Poison hybrid.
Defensive Build
Nature | Effects |
---|---|
Naughty | +Attack/-Special Defense |
Those who want to focus on Special Defense for their Iron Moth would do well to forget the Naughty nature, which takes away from the Special Defense stat, boosting the Attack stat just as with the other poor choices for this Pokemon. Staying away from these options should help you stand a chance against other fighters and outpace them in battle.
