Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Best Natures for Raichu

Make the most of your Electric ally.

With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launching, players can strive to take on the Champion and master the Paldea region. If you want to add the Electric type, Raichu, to your team, it helps to know the best natures for the Mouse Pokemon. Make your partner even stronger by pairing it with the options listed here.

Because Raichu has several strong stats, it can make the most of several natures. You’ll have multiple options depending on what type of Raichu you want. We’ve got several presets laid out for you below, one for an Attack build and another for a Special Attack focus.

Attack Raichu

NatureEffects
Jolly+Speed/-Special Attack
Adamant+Attack/-Special Attack

If you want to take a physical approach to battle with Raichu in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you have two options to choose from. With this build, you can focus on boosting the Speed stat or the Attack stat. If you’d rather outpace your enemies, Jolly nature is a strong choice. This nature improves Speed at the cost of Special Attack stat points. If you’re set on Physical Attack, that won’t be an issue.

Your other option as an Attack Raichu trainer is to opt for more Attack stat points. The Adamant nature will grant Raichu an improved Attack at the cost of Special Attack points, but don’t worry, that’s of little consequence for this build.

Special Attack Raichu

NatureEffects
Timid+Speed/-Attack
Modest+Special Attack/-Attack

If the Special Attack focus for Raichu is more your style you’ve got two choices: Speed or Special Attack. The Timid nature is an excellent choice for those looking for a boost of Speed for their Raichu, but it does lower Attack power. You won’t use this stat very much in the Special Attack build.

To those who’d rather boost Raichu’s impressive Special Attack stats, the Modest nature is the best fit for the job. You’ll bolster the Special Attack for your partner at the cost of Attack, but as we mentioned earlier, that won’t matter.

Worst Natures for Raichu

While finding the best nature may not be every trainer’s goal, avoiding the worst option should be a staple. Every trainer should also take note of the worst natures of their partner. Despite having two separate builds, Raichus of both styles should avoid many of the same natures.

Attack Raichu

If you’re using an Attack Raichu, make sure to avoid the following natures when finding a Pikachu or Raichu in the wilds of Paldea.

NatureEffects
Modest+Special Attack/-Attack
Quiet+Special Attack/-Speed
Impish+Defense/-Speed
Relaxed+Defense/-Speed

Because an Attack Raichu needs as much of the Attack stat as possible, the Modest nature is the worst pair possible. You’ll lower attack with this nature while boosting Special Attack. The Quiet nature also tanks Special Attack at the cost of Speed, so we recommend avoiding this nature if you see it.

Besides the natures that boost Special Attack, you’ll want to avoid the Impish and Relaxed natures, as they boost Defense, Raichu’s worst stat while denigrating Speed. It’s a poor tradeoff that any Raichu trainer would do well to avoid.

Special Attack Raichu

Those focusing on the Special Attack Raichu will see the worst results with the following natures. If you find the Mouse Pokemon brandishing any of the following natures, it’s best to leave them behind.

NatureEffects
Adamant+Attack/-Special Attack
Brave+Attack/-Speed
Impish+Defense/-Speed
Relaxed+Defense/-Speed

The Adamant nature offers a boon for Attack but a bane for Special Attack, making it the worst pairing for any Special Attack Raichu. Another Attack centric nature, Brave, lowers Speed stats for improved Attack power. These are the worst options for this build, so pick another partner if Raichu has these modifiers.

Be mindful of both Impish and Relaxed natures as well. As mentioned earlier, they impact the Speed stat negatively but raise the Defense stat, which isn’t worth the investment. Once you have a nature that suits your playstyle, you’re ready for Scarlet and Violet trials and tribulations!
