Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Best Natures for Smoliv

Put some Smoliv Oil on this fire.

Pokemon in the Paldea region have a lot of variety when it comes to their types and best natures. Each nature impacts the stats of a Pokemon, and the new Pokemon are no different. Choosing the best natures for Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is an important part of building a powerful team. Getting the Olive Pokemon, Smoliv, on your team is relatively easy, as you will encounter them in the wild early in your adventure, but it is the nature that will matter the most.

Catching a Smoliv with a good nature is extremely important, as these natures will also be the best choice for Dolliv and Arboliva. Smoliv’s evolutionary line is the second to feature a Grass/Normal type pairing, the first being Deerling. Let’s take a look at the best and worst natures for Smoliv.

Smoliv is all about Special Attacks, so you’ll want to natures that lower Attack, since this trait is not on most of Smoliv’s good attacks. The best nature for Smoliv is definitely Modest, because it will boost the Pokemon’s Special Attack while only lowering its attack. The next best would be Timid, because it will raise Smoliv’s speed.

Brave+Attack/-Speed

As stated above, Smoliv is not a physical attacker. Natures that raise the Attack stat are counterproductive. The absolute worst nature to avoid is Adamant, and the second worst is Brave.

Overall, Smoliv is really built around the ability to get that Special Attack damage in there as soon as possible. Due to this, you want to be prioritizing raising Special Attack and Speed, while avoiding lowering it. Always make sure you prioritize natures that do lower attacks as well, even if you can’t find Modest or Timid specifically.
