Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Best Natures for Snorlax

The iconic Normal type makes a triumphant return.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s roster of creatures grows! Thanks to The Teal Mask expansion, a handful of familiar faces return. One fan favorite making his debut in Gen IX is Snorlax! If you want the best natures for Snorlax, you’ve come to the right place. Here are the best options for this giant sleepy Pokemon.

NatureEffects
Brave+Attack/-Speed
Sassy+Special Defense/-Speed

Snorlax is a tanky Pokemon with an emphasis on Attack and Special Defense. If you want to prioritize attack power with Snorlax, the Brave nature is the best option. Brave-natured Pokemon have increased Attack at the cost of the Speed stat. Because Snorlax is already so slow, this extra hit to his Speed won’t make much of a difference.

The Sassy nature is another excellent option if you’d rather focus on Special Defense stats with your Snorlax. Like Brave nature, Sassy nature lowers a Pokemon’s Speed. The significant change here is that your ally will instead survive more Special Attacks thanks to its improved Special Defense.

Worst Natures for Snorlax

Just as there are a few natures that make Snorlax much better in a fight, you should avoid several. Those who want to avoid getting the worst option should check the two choices here. If you find your partner Snorlax has one of the following natures, we suggest changing its nature with a mint or finding another out in the wild.

NatureEffects
Timid+Speed/-Attack
Naive+Speed/-Special Defense

Since Snorlax has abysmal Speed, any nature that puts stock into that stat will make your ally a poor fit for battle. Timid nature improves Speed and lowers Attack, boosting a useless stat and removing points from a key focus for the Pokemon. Naive nature boosts the Speed stat and takes away from the Special Defense, which makes it a poor fit for the tanky Pokemon.
