With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there’s a whole new region to explore in Gen IX. The Paldea region has so many new faces to see and Pokemon to discover, but some famous Pokemon return. Eevee and its evolutions join in on the fun, including Vaporeon. If you want to add this Water type to your team, knowing the best natures for this ally can make your journey much more manageable.
Best Natures for Vaporeon

Nature | Effects |
---|---|
Modest | +Special Attack/-Attack |
Calm | +Special Defense/-Attack |
When using Vaporeon, you’ve got a few options. This eeveelution can serve as your party’s metaphorical sword and shield. If you want to opt for an offensive nature, Modest bolsters the Special Attack of this Pokemon while lowering the Attack stat. As a Special Attack hound, Attack isn’t a need, so don’t fret about the negatives.
However, if you want to protect your team with Vaporeon, the Calm nature makes it a strong Special Defender. Despite its adorable appearance, Vaporeon can be a tank on the field and can defend its allies from foes like Pikachu and Gengar. Like the Modest nature, Calm also lowers the Attack stat, so that’s of little concern.

Worst Natures for Vaporeon

Though not all trainers will see the merit in hunting down the best version of Vaporeon, it is vital to avoid the worst natures. If you find yourself with one of the following natures, we suggest saving that Eevee for another evolution, like Flareon.
Nature | Effects |
---|---|
Adamant | +Attack/-Special Attack |
Naughty | +Attack/-Special Defense |
Because Vaporeon can’t make much use of the Attack stat, getting one of these natures that focuses on that aspect of its kit would be a waste. The Adamant and Naughty natures also lower the most important stats for this eeveelution, making them poor options. Once you have a nature that fits your needs, you can explore the Paldea region with your Bubble Jet buddy.
