With the FFXIV Fan Festival 2023 in full swing, Square finally announced the new expansion for Final Fantasy XIV. The next significant content drop, titled Dawntrail, launches in Summer 2024. As with other paid content updates in FFXIV, a new story, fresh maps

The New World: Tural
Square Enix revealed that Dawntrail will occur in The New World, Tural. Adventurers from Eorzea travel to a tropical venue outside The Three Great Continents.
Among the new maps in Dawntrail’s Tural is Tuliyollal, a new hub area on the coast. Square Enix posted the first look at the new location directly to the FFXIV Twitter page.
There are also new open maps in Dawntrail. The southern side of Yok Tural, Urqopacha, boasts vast, colorful mountain ranges.
Outside of hubs and mountains, there are also dense forests. Yak T’el is a foliage-heavy map with huts and treehouses that climb above the skies.
New Tribes
New tribes also appear in Dawntrail, with the Pelupelu being the first announced addition in the upcoming expansion.
New Classes and Level Cap Increase
Square Enix has confirmed two new DPS classes for Dawntrail, continuing the trend of additional classes in Final Fantasy XIV. We don’t know what these DPS jobs entail, but we will surely hear more from Square in the coming months.
As with other expansions for FFXIV, the level cap increases again with Dawntrail. Players can rise to level 100 when the new content releases next summer.
Graphical and System Updates
One of the most extensive updates coming with Dawntrail is the first graphical update for FFXIV, which includes improvements to screen-wide aesthetics, higher resolution textures, shadows, and improved material qualities. These changes are consistent with the overarching world and character models.
FFXIV System updates include new gear types, dye changes, and furnishing increases.
Additionally, FFXIV confirmed that it’s finally coming to Xbox in 2023. Beta testing opens up during the Patch 6.5x series ahead of the official Spring 2024 launch.
