Mortal Kombat 1: Homelander, Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and more confirmed in new trailer

The good, the bad, and Homelander.

San Diego Comic-Con 2023 has several big announcements for the video game world. Warner Bros. Games and NeatherRealm Studios even had a few new trailers for Mortal Kombat 1. While returning characters and further info on the story is exciting, the show stoppers this time were Homelander, Omni-Man, and Peacemaker: the faces of the game’s first Kombat Pack.

NeatherRealm took to Twitter and YouTube to share the in-game models for the six characters joining the game after it launches: Quan Chi, Ermac, Omni-Man, Peacemaker, Takeda, and Homelander.

So far, it’s been confirmed that J.K. Simmons will be reprising his role of Omni-Man for MK1. There hasn’t been any word on Antony Starr and John Cena reprising their roles for their respective characters. Though, given that WB and NetherRealm were able to get Starr and Cena’s likenesses for their respective characters, it’s not too far-fetched for them to do some voice work as well.

No release date was given for the additional content, but we will hear more in the coming months. As with all Kombat Packs in Mortal Kombat, players can buy each character individually or as part of the Kombat Pack.

Alongside the Kombat Pack trailer, Mortal Kombat 1 saw another story trailer focused on the Umgadi. The lengthy trailer confirmed several more playable characters, including Li Mei, Tanya, and Baraka. Goro and Darrius saw Kameo Fighter confirmations as well.

If that wasn’t enough, there was even the announcement of a new Mortal Kombat film starring Johnny Cage. Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, an R-rated feature from Warner Bros. Animation, focused on the star-studded movie star from the Mortal Kombat series, launches October 17, 2023, on DVD, BluRay, and digital.

Mortal Kombat 1 launches on PS5, XSX, PC, and Switch on September 19, 2023.
