New Final Fantasy XVI demo announced; set for June 12

Yoshi P delivers once again.

During the Final Fantasy XVI pre-launch celebration, there were plenty of announcements about the upcoming RPG from Square Enix. The biggest question on everyone’s minds leading up to the launch was if and when a demo would launch. Naoki Yoshida finally unveiled the playable PS5 demo for Final Fantasy XVI at this event, and the launch is only a few hours away.

Yoshida and the game’s Localization Director, Koji Fox, revealed that the first two hours of Final Fantasy XVI’s prologue would be available in the upcoming demo. Progress will carry over to the base game after launch. Yoshida did specify that the preamble is heavy with cutscenes as it is the start of the game.

In addition to the story preview for Final Fantasy XVI, an additional Battle Demo is available. Those who complete the prologue for Final Fantasy XVI get extra content that showcases the action combat of Final Fantasy XVI. Unlike the prologue portion, progress from the battle demo is not transferrable.
