Nintendo announces new Tears of the Kingdom OLED Switch

I don't need it. I don't need it. . . I NEED IT!

With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom just a few short months away, Nintendo held a Gameplay Demonstration. The showcase gave players their first in-depth look at gameplay in this anticipated sequel, but that’s not all. Nintendo also unveiled a new limited edition OLED Switch, which debuts alongside the sequel to Breath of the Wild.

On April 28, 2023, the Tears of the Kingdom Edition of the Nintendo Switch OLED Model system hits store shelves. The product retails for $359.99 and does not include the game. Like other game-specific versions of the OLED, this Switch has a limited run. Once the supply is gone, your only chance to get this system will come from the second-hand market. We’ve added a closer look at the system and its JoyCons below:

Along with the new OLED, there are a few new extras. This time, there’s a The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom-themed Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for $74.99 and a Carrying Case for $24.99 up for grabs. Both of these items launch alongside the game on May 12. Get a closer look at each item here:

Led by The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma, the gameplay demonstration highlighted several new mechanics coming to Tears of the Kingdom, including Recall, which allows players to rewind an object’s position. The big standout this time, though, was the Fuse mechanic. Players can combine overworld items in Tears of the Kingdom to make new ones. Aonuma made a few new weapons and a boat, but the potential for this system is nearly endless.
