Even though there’s no E3 this year, there are still plenty of announcements to look forward to this summer. Sony and PlayStation finally announced their summer 2023 showcase, and it’s coming sooner than we thought.
Sony’s PlayStation Showcase for 2023 debuts on Wednesday, May 24, at 4 PM ET/1 PM PT. Sony’s PlayStation Blog post promises over an hour of content covering an array of upcoming titles. This showcase focuses on games for the PlayStation 5 and PSVR 2. Viewers can expect “a glimpse of several new creations from PlayStation Studios.”

PlayStation Studios is the moniker given to the 25 teams and companies under the Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) umbrella. This includes beloved studios like Insomniac Games, Santa Monica Studio, and Naughty Dog.

The last time Sony had such a massive showcase focused on their titles was back in September 2021, which is when Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine saw reveals. Sony likely has more high-profile games to show off this year as well.

Along with the main games from PlayStation Studios, Sony did confirm additional titles from third-party partners and indie developers. Unlike the games from PlayStation Studios, these titles come from small teams with a unique vision.
What games do you expect to make an appearance at the PlayStation Showcase? We’re hedging our bets on a Spider-Man 2 trailer with gameplay. Since Spider-Man’s second title is only several months away, we’re due for more than another cinematic. No matter what happens, though, we can expect the game release calendar to look a bit meatier this time next week.
