Few games in Sony’s 2023 lineup are as anticipated as Spider-Man 2. Before the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, it’d been almost two years since fans heard anything about the upcoming game. That changed on May 24, 2023, when Insomniac Games finally gave players a look at the superhero epic and release date, which is Fall 2023.

Spider-Man 2 launches as a PlayStation 5 exclusive this fall. This is the third entry in Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man series and the first to forsake the PS4. Focus on the PS5 and its improved hardware makes the title even more impressive; Spider-Man 2 uses the more powerful console to improve graphical fidelity, performance, and additional mechanics.

Unlike the previous titles, players can control both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in Spider-Man 2, each showcasing different abilities and skills. Additionally, players will be able to play as Symbiote Peter, who has an aggressive and hard-hitting moveset. However, as shown in the trailer, the iconic black suit is also affecting Peter’s personality. We’ll have to see how this will impact the story and his relationship with Miles.
Though Spider-Man 2 features both Spider-Men, it is not a co-op title, instead focusing on an “epic single-player experience,” according to Insomniac.
Despite a lack of cooperative play, Insomniac promises to amp up the Spider-Man story with new characters joining the cast. Kraven the Hunter and Harry Osborn’s Venom are two new faces debuting in the highly anticipated sequel. Who else joins the cast is up to Insomiac. In the meantime, we’ll enjoy watching that sweet gameplay trailer on repeat!
